Henry A. Garner, Jr. (Managing Director)
Henry A. Garner, Jr. is Managing Director with BVFR & Associates, LLC, a privately held, minority owned investment-banking firm in Baltimore, Maryland, engaged in creative financing for the benefit of clients in the public and private sectors. At BVFR & Associates LLC, Henry serves as Manager of the firm’s Baltimore headquarters and is responsible for opening new accounts and developing new relationships with area businesses as well as banks to identify deal flow. Niche markets include government guaranteed loans sponsored by the USDA, Department of Energy and HUD among others. In his duties as Manager, Henry oversees staff and is responsible for training them in all aspects of the business.
Mr. Garner’s initial record in public service propelled him to a professional engagement in finance. After being Honorably Discharged from the Louisiana National Guard, he began investigating merger and non-merger conduct for the Federal Trade Commission. There he assisted with Uniform Commercial Code and Securities and Exchange Commission filings, mergers and articles of incorporation. He later became a co-founder of XI Interactive, Inc., where he was the lead on story and character development for all video game project designs and responsible for business development in the telecommunications and wireless entertainment markets.
Mr. Garner graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History from Grambling State University. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from Capella University. He also holds a paralegal certification with a business law concentration from the National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta, Georgia.
Henry is also a social champion. He proudly serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Services Region in Baltimore, Maryland and sits on its African-American Donor Recruitment Committee. Additionally, Henry is a member of the Urban Leadership Institute’s Board of Directors and sits on its Paul Robeson Academic International School of Excellence (P.R.A.I.S.E.) committee.
